Ah, it’s here ! It has arrived !
Le Beaujolais nouveau est arrivé !
Created in France, in the province of Beaujolais (Burgundy region), this affordable red wine is released around the world on a yearly basis, always on the third Thursday in November. Knowing when something new is about to be released always generates some anticipation and excitement. In fact, it’s become a family tradition of sorts!
( “Have you tried it yet?” “No, not yet! But I heard it was a good year, something about the grapes not freezing! Going to run over to the liquor store and grab a few bottles ! Some for tasting now and some to bring over for Thanksgiving!” “OK honey, but don’t taste too many at once!”)
It’s also always fun to see the new labels as they are redesigned each year. I then transition from self-proclaimed sommelier into self-proclaimed professional art critic and discuss how pretty the label is this year and what a terrific use of color they utilized. (Note: I’m pretty sure my wine rating, label analysis and color interpretation sound more and more professional and knowledgeable with each glass of wine tried :). )
Trying the Beaujolais Nouveau always makes for a merry time, though I may need to go to France for its launch one year. The region hosts a five day festival called Les Sarmentelles. Five days of drinking wine and winning prizes? Now that sounds like a great time to be had !
Have a great day all !
